Werner Zapka works within the inkjet field since he joined MIT Inkjet in 1995, from 1999 to 2019 at Xaar and since then as independent consultant. His areas of work comprise the development of printheads as well as new inkjet applications.
In 1980 Werner Zapka earned his Ph.D. in physics at the Max-Planck-Institute in Göttingen, Germany, on design and applications of excimer and dye lasers. He then moved to IBM Research Labs, USA and IBM Germany, engaging himself for 14 years in research and development in semiconductor, MEMS, electronic packaging and laser technology.
From 2009 to 2015 he also served as adjunct professor at KTH Stockholm to develop smart packaging solutions with digital printing..
Werner Zapka is editor of WILEY’s ‘Handbook of Industrial Inkjet Printing’ (first edition published in 2017), which covers the various areas of inkjet printing in industry as the present Technical Conference at InPrint Munich 2019.
